Opinion Reflection
I love writing opinion articles where I am able to construct arguments in a way I wanted it to be. For example, this semester I wrote about how the Inclusion Rider won’t affect the diversity of Hollywood. To further explain this idea, I was able to use different kinds of evidence from multiple articles to support my argument. This is similar to an essay, however, the structure of it is different. For an essay, the writer needs to write a TPR thesis statement in the introduction paragraph. Also, a TPR thesis statement list 3 reasons towards the argument that the writer is making. Therefore, the reader would know what the essay is going to be about where they full list their reasonings in one sentence. In contrast, opinion articles spread out their reasonings and do not have a TPR thesis where they instead of a position statement. To further explain this, the writer would need to state their reasonings in separate paragraphs. For example, they would need to state one reasoning in their first paragraph and further explain with supporting evidence and analysis. Also, in their position statement, it should include their main topic and add a bit more detail on it without giving too much away. Besides their differences, I would rather write an opinion article than an essay because you are able to revive the audience’s attention and have them to fully read your article where they do not know your reasonings from the start. Overall, I enjoy writing opinion articles, despite being difficult to construct.
