On Friday September 21 at 12:00 pm the 45th Red Rover Championships took place in the quad area. Finalist team The Dream Team versed the Weenie Hut Juniors ultimately ending in the victorious victory of The Dream Team 22-8.
There was a change of venue to the scorching hot concrete, making the competition harder.
“It is not fair for us to lose against 4 guys that are in the same team. There should have been an assumption in the game,” Ella said.
Rivalry team, The Weenie Hut Juniors, felt uneasy due to Angela’s recent wrist injury that may have caused the team of some major setbacks. They are already seeking into future reffing practices.
Captain of the Dream Team, Miguelito Jimenez takes his first loss of paper to scissors in an annual coin toss to Captain Daniela “Mozzarella”. This was an advantage for The Weenie Hut Juniors in the beginning of the game.
As Daniel from the Dream Team takes off with an impressive sprint, he uses the team’s signature move to get past his opponents. Player Alex hesitates as he creates a running technique of his own, scoring a second point for his team.
Weenie Hut Junior player Adrienne, experiences a near decapitation due to her small stature. She was chosen twice due to her ability of being an impressive player on the court.
Player after player from the Weenie Hut Juniors kept descending to the Dream Team leaving only 8 people left in the last round. The Weenie Hut Juniors didn’t lose hope and kept a positive attitude as their hands were strongly intertwined with others.
Both teams could feel the tension as the sun beats down on each player. Even the ASB students gathered to see who would take first.
Both teams show each other compassion and can’t wait until the next Red Rover Competition.
“I swear I tried to do my best. I just wanted to call it like it was. This has been my dream to be a referee in a championship. This scandal is ruining the experience for me,” Spaulding said. (whiningly)
