Review Reflection

Out of all the articles I wrote for the past year in my Journalism 1 class, I love writing movie review articles. I am able to write and construct my opinion on the films that I strongly like or dislike. Also, I like how you are able to judge on the film’s cinematography, directing, production design, etc. and connect to your overall impression of it over time. Similar to opinion articles, you would need to write a position statement and layout your reasonings throughout the review article itself. Unlike opinion articles, your position statement can be placed either in the introduction or conclusion paragraph. Also, the writer needs to support his reasoning with supporting evidence, directly from the film in general. For example, if the writer does not like the acting in the film, therefore they need to support it by stating which scene in the film really represented bad acting from a certain person from their perspective. Besides structure, a movie review article is really fun to write about it because it includes a form of entertainment that easily attracts me. Plus, I love watching movies with my friends and family, where I would sometimes write personal reviews in my journal afterward. Also, before I was taught how to write a movie review in class, I would watch movie reviews from critics on Youtube and try to learn off of that. Overall, I love writing movie reviews in class and my free time, and I am looking to writing more in the future.
